Shoals Hosts First Annual Chili Cook-Off to Support Heart Health

Shoals Raises Almost $300 for the American Heart Association

If it’s football season, it’s tailgating time at Shoals Hospital.

Employees in departments throughout the facility enjoyed the event by decorating and wearing the colors of their favorite teams. The staff on the Med-Surg floor went a step further, decorating for both Halloween and tailgating.

In addition to the football fun, the hospital also hosted their first chili cook-off. More than a dozen chili recipes were submitted into the contest. Employees voted on the winner by contributing a minimum of $1, which was then donated to Emergency Department Nurse Manager, Jan Hannah, in her role as an American Heart Association ambassador. We raised almost $300.

Thanks to Shoals staff for hosting a winning event to raise almost $300 and bringing more bringing awareness to women and the prevalence of heart disease.
