CVMC Celebrates 119 Local Volunteers

National Volunteer Week

During National Volunteer Week, 2017 the amazing volunteers of Canyon Vista Medical Center came together to be celebrated for their dedication to the hospital and the community.  “The work you do at Canyon Vista Medical Center makes a difference in so many people’s lives – patients, families, the community and our staff.  We thank you for your service and your dedication” said Randy Anderson, CEO of Canyon Vista Medical Center.

Canyon Vista Medical Center has 119 volunteers who donated more than 10,000 hours in 2016.  Their duties include greeting patients and families at the front entrance of the hospital, working in the gift shop, making bed check calls with Casa de la Paz Hospice, helping department directors with various projects and so much more. Valerie Weller, Volunteer Coordinator, works closely with the volunteers and hospital staff to be sure that everyone’s needs are being met. “These people are amazing!  I love learning about their lives, what they did before becoming a volunteer and seeing how eager they are to help make a difference. It really is a special program!” States Weller. Valerie passed out the certificates for total accumulated time donated, beginning with 100 hours and working all the way up to Karen Fox’s 13,900 hours of donated time since 2008. “We have some brand new folks here and people like Cheryl Geer who has been volunteering since 1996. It’s a tradition of giving.” Valerie concluded.
