A Memory Lives On

The Legacy of Rodger Thompson

On Monday, October 31, Sarah Peterson, a second-year student in the Radiologic Technology program at the Missoula college was awarded the Rodger Thompson Scholarship, worth $1,000. This scholarship is awarded in memory of Rodger Thompson, a beloved technologist who passed away January 27, 2014. Rodger was phenomenal when working with students. He passed on his technical skills and patient care skills to many students over the years. The Diagnostic Imaging staff wanted to honor Rodger’s legacy by providing monetary support to a second-year radiologic technology student who they feel best exemplifies Rodger’s qualities. The Diagnostic Imaging staff donated a portion of the funds for the scholarship, and the remaining funds came from The Foundation for Community Health, from the Chris Spurgeon Education fund. This fund was established in memory of a radiologic technologist who passed away in 2010 while skiing on Lolo Peak and is funded by Missoula Radiology.

Rodger’s mother, Ann Thompson, a former CMC employee, attended the ceremony.
