Treat Wars at Ottumwa Regional Health Center

Employees Competed in an Annual Baking Competition for Charity

ORHC Staff held the 3rd Annual Holiday Treat Wars! Employees broke out the baking pans and came up with some seriously good desserts! The competitors were fierce this year and there was no shortage of trash talking before the event! Would the judges favor chocolate again this year, or perhaps something different…gingerbread? Maybe peppermint!

Only our judges knew for sure. Mayor Tom Lazio led the judging and was joined by Phil Noel, CEO, Lori Bailey, CNO, Jason Hotchkiss, COO/CFO and even Dizzy the Clown weighed in. Just to be sure things were on the up and up, Rob Jay, Executive Vice President of RCCH HealthCare Partners, flew in that morning, initially to observe, but then decided to join in the tasting! (Actually he was here for several business meetings, but was able to break away and participate!)

They sampled a wide variety of sweets from mint cheesecake to candied bacon balls!

Top Prizes were awarded to Andrea Shullaw for her yummy toffee and Sharry Fipps for her beautiful salted caramel cheesecake. Afterwards all the desserts were sold and the proceeds given to the local food pantry.
