Shoals Therapists Help with Patient’s Recovery

Patient Shares Gratitude for Shoals Staff

Team Burdine. The t-shirt says it all. For Greg Burdine, a local attorney and former state representative, suffered a stroke recently, but he has worked very hard toward a full recovery. Right there with him were therapists from the J.W. Sommer Rehab Unit on the campus of Shoals Hospital. He was discharged from the unit recently, and he said he could not have made the recovery he has without the help of occupational, speech, and physical therapists.

Mr. Burdine also made it a habit to pray with and for all those he encountered throughout his stay. As he left, he gathered his team of caregivers outside for one final prayer with his wife, Susan, a breast cancer survivor, by his side. “I just could not have done what I have done without these folks,” he said through tears. “I’m so grateful, so thankful, and I will be back and walking through these halls to hug them again soon.”
