High School Students Break for Breakfast
Supporting Cancer Patients One Breakfast at a Time
Every year, we host an annual breast cancer awareness event called Brake for Breakfast. Our goal is to reach as many women in our community as we can with a message of early detection and education about breast cancer screening guidelines, mammography at CMH, and cancer support resources. This year, we reached over 1,000 women, a new record. Our biggest supporters for this event are our local schools. Our four county high schools all pitch in to help us pack the Brake for Breakfast bags (this year they packed 1,000 bags in less than an hour), and greet and celebrate women during the event. Their passion and enthusiasm for this message is astounding! Many of them share stories of mothers, aunts, grandmothers, and others who have survived breast cancer, and they come each year to celebrate their stories and support all of those whose lives have been touched by cancer. This year, the Clinton Massie Falconettes, East Clinton Cheerleading, Blanchester Volleyball, and Wilmington Women’s Varsity Soccer teams joined us to help pack bags. These girls rock, and we absolutely couldn’t do it without them.
