Southwestern Medical Center Makes It A Happy Holiday

SWMC Team Members Donated Gifts and Food

You can’t beat the generosity of Southwestern Medical Center team members! This holiday season they provided Christmas gifts and stockings to the children hospitalized at SWMC’s Behavioral Health Center. Team members also generously donated to the Lawton Food Bank.

With the help of the SWMC volunteers’ Angel Tree project, each child who would be admitted to the Behavioral Health Center during Christmas, was able to request gifts they would like to receive. According to volunteer coordinator Anna Marie Ochsner, the response was incredible — there were more employees wanting to help then there were gift requests. Approximately 40 children were provided the opportunity to experience a nice Christmas, while being away from their normal environment.

Several food items were donated to our community food closet, the Lawton Food Bank. As part of the annual employee banquet, each employee received one free drink ticket for every four items of food donated. The drink tickets could then be redeemed at the employee banquet, hosted as a local hotel and convention center. While the limit was four tickets, several individual team members donated more than 16 items.
