CVMC Director Nominates Peer for DAISY Award
Nurse Cares for Fellow Colleague After Surgery at CVMC
Christina Gallaway isn’t only the Nutrition & Food Services Director at Canyon Vista Medical Center, in February, she was a patient too.
Christina underwent a double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery. The recovery is a difficult one, making any movement extremely exhausting and painful.
“And then came Michael Stoner. A nurse committed to caring for people. His level of professionalism and compassion blew me away! He took the time to explain everything that was going on, why it was important, how it might affect me and what to do if it did,” said Christina.
She nominated Michael for the DAISY award which was presented to him in July. Michael joined Canyon Vista Medical Center on May 9, 2016 and works in the Acute Care Unit.
“Michael is a fantastic nurse, and we are so grateful to have him as part of our team here at Canyon Vista,” said Cosette Britton, Director of Acute Care Services.
In the second quarter of 2017, Canyon Vista had record nominations for the DAISY award.
Joy Upshaw, CNO for Canyon Vista Medical Center shared, “We have a great staff who are focused on providing excellent care. Having the nomination for Michael come from one of our own staff members just makes it all the more special.”
