Community Medical Center Nurses Honored
Jack Lowney Receives the The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses
Community Medical Center Nurses are being honored with The DAISY Award For Extraordinary Nurses. The award is part of the DAISY Foundation’s program to recognize the super-human efforts nurses perform everyday.
The first award recipient is Jack Lowney (pictured here with his family), an extraordinary nurse in the ICU. Many of you know Jack because he is everywhere , always helping out. Jack was nominated by a nurse colleague who wanted to recognize his compassion for both his patients and his team, his ability to always make the working environment energetic and fun, his willingness to help out above his own patient assignment, his encouragement when teaching new employees, his going to the Med/Surg or other departments to help out when they are busy, his calm influence in stressful situations, and always keeping the patient and family at the center of his care . Please congratulate Jack when you see him in the hallway or in his home unit, the ICU.
Nurses may be nominated by patients, families, and colleagues, and they are chosen by a committee of nurses at Community Medical Center to receive The DAISY Award. Awards are given throughout the year at presentations given in front of the nurse’s colleagues, physicians, patients, and visitors. Each Honoree will receive a certificate commending her or him for being an “Extraordinary Nurse.” The certificate reads: “In deep appreciation of all you do, who you are, and the incredibly meaningful difference you make in the lives of so many people.” The Honoree will also be given a beautiful and meaningful sculpture called A Healer’s Touch, hand-carved by artists of the Shona Tribe in Africa.
Chief Nursing Officer Jan Perry states, “We are proud to be among the healthcare organizations participating in the DAISY Award program. Nurses are heroes every day. It’s important that our nurses know their work is highly valued, and The DAISY Foundation provides a way for us to do that.”
Nominations can be done by going to the CMC website and under the resources tab, fill out the form for DAISY Award.
