Canyon Vista Medical Center Shows Support
In the Wake of the Pulse Nightclub Shooting, the CVMC Team Encouraged Orlando Regional Medical Center Staff
While watching the news about the nightclub shooting in Orlando, Florida, Terrie Depoy, a certified surgical tech at Canyon Vista, immediately had a feeling of compassion for the healthcare professionals who cared for the numerous trauma patients at the Orlando Regional Medical Center. Terri said, “This can happen anywhere. This can happen here in Sierra Vista, Arizona.” Understanding the stressors of treating trauma patients, she wanted to reach out to the ORMC staff to give support to the forgotten few who are the hospital surgical staff.
The next day, she bought a card, asked everyone in the Canyon Vista Perioperative Services department to sign it to offer kind words of support and encouragement, and mailed it.
A month later, she received a pleasant surprise from the operating room team at Orlando Regional Medical Center. The surgical staff sent a thank you card with handwritten notes of thanks from all of their staff. An excerpt from the thank you card stated, “Thank you so much for your kind and thoughtful actions. Your support for our team has been encouraging and energizing.”
