Kevin Thompson Calls National Park Staff Family

Specialized rehab gets Kevin Thompson back on his feet.

With more than nine years as a cardiac catheterization patient, Kevin Thompson was no stranger to heart care. But when he was told in his early 40s that his condition required open heart surgery, he faced a level of uncertainty. Kevin now says the entire team of doctors, nurses, and specialists at National Park Medical Center have become like family to him. “We were nervous, but they kept me and my family informed throughout the entire process and tailored my recovery to fit my goals.” Kevin’s goal was to be able to shoot his bow when bow season opened in Arkansas, so NPMC’s cardiac rehabilitation director, Cindy Draper, acquired a bow-trainer to incorporate into his therapy. Kevin was able to shoot his bow just in time for his goal!
